BEARD Hockey DISPERSAL DRAFT 2.0

DISPERSAL RULES

AVAILABLE SELECTIONS: Any player on the Unassigned List is eligible to be selected. In addition, clubs must select one Prospect Package and one Draft Pick Package - these can be selected at any time once it's your club's time to pick. Each club must also select one PRO Head Coach and one FARM Head Coach.

All teams must draft 42 players, one Draft Pick Package, one Prospect package, a Pro Coach, and a Farm Coach.

CONTRACT TERMS and SALARIES: All players will have terms and salaries based on their NHL counterparts. Max length of a term is 5 years, so anyone with a longer contract will revert to 5 years. Any available player who does not have an NHL contract will have 1-year deals, with their salary being the median of their 2021-22 NHL salary and their FMV value.

COACHES: Coaches will be assigned salaries based on the order of their Dispersal Draft selection. For Pro Head Coaches, the 1st coach picked will earn $5,000,000 per season - each coach selected afterward earns $100,000 less per season (down to a minimum of $2 million). For Farm Head Coaches, the structure is the same at 10% scale (top selected Farm Coach earns $500,000, minimum is $200,000). Terms for coaches will be up to the GM selecting them. GM's can choose 1-year, 2-year, or 3-year terms for either coach.

MORE ON COACHES: To keep things fair and semi-realistic, the top 20 rated coaches based on the average of their PH, DF, OF, and PD ratings will be available only for Pro Coach selection: both at the Dispersal Draft, and throughout the current offseason through the end of the 2022-23 season.

This means that if 18 of the 20 top-rated coaches are selected at the Dispersal Draft, the two remaining Top 20 coaches can only be hired for a Pro Head Coach position through the end of the 2023 playoffs. Once the 2023 offseason begins, any unassigned coach can be hired for either Pro or Farm, and we're basically at "normal".

SENDING LISTS: We highly recommend sending ranked lists whether you are available to make picks live or not. If you cannot make a live pick, you must send lists. We will pick the top player available on your list when your pick is up - or, will pick your direction (take top forward on my list, top D on my list, etc.).

WE ARE NOT ALLOWING "Best Player Available" or BPA PICKS!!! This is lazy and with only 28 rounds, there's no need. League commissioners are not responsible for drafting your team! Please send lists ranking enough players to cover the period of time or number of rounds where you won't be able to make a live pick.

ATTENDING THE DRAFT: You can either select picks live via the #Dispersal-Draft Discord channel, or you can send lists. You cannot select proxies to make your picks for you. If there is some reason you cannot make your pick or send lists, please DM Thomas - but this is a fundamental part of participating in this league.

THE PROCESS: During live broadcasts, GM's will have three minutes to make their pick. Someone will give one thirty-second warning in the channel to keep things moving. Each team gets two 2-minute extensions during the live portion. During Daily Drafts, teams will have one hour (during each 10am to 12am period) to make their selection by posting their pick on the #Dispersal-Draft channel.

IF YOU ARE ATTENDING LIVE: Make your own pick announcements! When you are ready, simply state that your "pick is in". I will 'clear the air' and leave the floor to you. You may then announce your pick.

PLEASE NOTE: After a team makes their selection, it may be about a minute until we announce the next team is on the clock as we update several things quickly.

AUTOPICKS (Send lists to avoid this!!!): If a GM no-shows their selection and does not send a list, they will lose their spot in that round. Once that round is complete, they will get a random "autopick". An autopick will consist of a randomly chosen number between 1 and 16, with that number representing the 16 best players that are still available in the Dispersal Draft ("best" determined by OV, and then by age from older to younger).

Any GM that no-shows or no-lists for 3 rounds worth of selections will be subject to dismissal from BEARD Hockey.

TRADING DURING THE DISPERSAL DRAFT: Teams can only trade their Dispersal Draft selection spots - they cannot deal any other assets. Additionally, all teams must maintain a balance of 46 draftable assets at all times. This means any trade must include the same number of selections leaving as are coming in.

Remember: Rounds 1-14 are single-selection rounds, Rounds 15-24 are "Double-Up" rounds, and Rounds 25-28 are "Triple-Up" rounds. Based on this, each pick can have either 1, 2, or 3 assets contained in that one selection. Keep this in mind!

Example: Team A trades 9th, 10th, and 12th round picks for 11th and 15th round picks. This trade is ALLOWED as Round 15 contains 2 assets.

Example: Team A trades 10th and 12th round picks for 11th and 16th round picks. This trade is DENIED as Round 16 contains 2 assets (meaning Team A acquires 3 assets while Team B acquires 2 assets).

Example: Team A trades 15th and 20th round picks for 14th and 25th round picks. This trade is ALLOWED since Team A is moving 4 assets for a single asset (Round 14) and three assets (Round 25) - so it's a four in, four out deal.
