Jets Management Ready For Takeoff

The Winnipeg Jets this week announced the hiring of veteran General Manager Nathan Erb, who has assumed the role immediately.

Even as Winnipeg searched for a new GM, the team continued to impress on the ice in a very competitive Central Division.

Brady Tkachuk continues to lead the way with 24 points in 22 games. The 21-year old is best known for playing with an edge, but is showing a scoring touch a quarter into the season.

"It's not often you walk into a situation with a 21-year old emerging star already on the team," said the new Jets GM. "This roster has some very good offensive players, and we'll continue to build around this core."

On defense, Brent Burns was acquired by the previous management team and has fit in well. Burns, 35, is still one of the best in the game. Burns was named captain by the incoming management team.

What does the new GM have in store?

"This is a very solid team and by no means will we blow things up just because we're the new management team," said Erb. "We think the team needs some depth on the bottom six, and we plan to address that. For those looking for a blockbuster trade, you can keep waiting."

The Jets also have one of the best goaltenders in the game in Connor Hellebuyck and a very good young backup in Alexandar Georgiev.

"I like to build from the net out," said the new GM. "And that's in place for years to come. Both of these guys have my full confidence and I look forward to improving the team in front of them."
