Preseason Night 2: Hat Trick, Shutout, Blowout, Stuetz-out

Night two of the BEARD Hockey preseason saw a few more wild games, including a New Jersey triple, a seven-goal explosion, and a rookie breaking out.

After a few moves early in the preseason, the Red Wings just seem to keep taking it in stride - as noticed by a smooth 6-2 victory over the Wild (who've lost their two games by a combined 12-2 score).

Ryan Reaves shows he can do the goal-scoring thing too as the Golden Knights (led by Reaves' pair of tallies) takes out the Kraken by a 5-3 margin.

David Pastrnak nets his third goal of the preseason, but it's not enough to propel the Canucks as they fall to Edmonton by a 6-4 score.

A late power-play goal turns out to be the difference as cross-lake rivals Toronto and Buffalo renew acquaintances - the Leafs edge the Sabres 5-4.

Tim Stueztle notches a pair (he has three in two games) and Spencer Knight is nearly perfect again as the young guns power Chicago to a 3-1 win over St. Louis.

"Nuge" is really digging his new 'digs' as RNH goes off for three - the Devils needed all of them to stave off a narrow 5-4 victory over the game Islanders.

Mikko, can you hear me over that constant buzzer in the background? Phew...tough night for Koskinen and the Avalanche as the Coyotes toast Colorado by a mile-high 7-1 difference.

San Jose and Anaheim truly went toe to toe in an epic third period which saw six goals and two lead changes - the Sharks narrowly prevailed by a 6-5 tally.
