Leafs take first game of the season, add Hainsey

Leafs fans are extremely happy for their first victory of the BEARD Hockey season against the Boston Bruins, winning 3-2 in a shootout.

Nick Jensen was a last minute removal of last night's action just hours before game time due to a trade with the Buffalo Sabres.

Toronto sent Nick Jensen along with prospect Lukas Cormier and TOR 3rd 2021 to Buffalo in exchange for Ron Hainsey and $250,000.

Joel Hanley was put in place of Nick Jensen for the night. He was a +1, had one hit while playing 16:14 minutes of ice time.

Nikita Kucherov beat Tristan Jarry just 28 seconds into the game to start things off for the Bruins. Assist went to Tanner Pearson. Less than 6 minutes later, Jaden Schwartz showed everyone his shooting skills and tied the game at one on a beautiful pass from Mitch Marner. David Savard got the 2nd assist on the play.

Ryan Strome put the Leafs up 2-1 at the 11:46 mark of the 2nd period. Assisted by Connor Brown and Patrick Marleau. Alex Iafallo ties it up at two in the 3rd period. Assists went to Travis Zajac and Jordan Greenway.

Patrick Marleau scored the winning goal in shootout action upsetting Jordan Binnington and the Boston Bruins in front of a 17,176 crowd at TD Garden.

Ron Hainsey is expected to suit up for the Leafs Friday as they will take on the Florida Panthers in Toronto for the Leafs home opener.

Finally, here's a pic of a happy Leafs fan - the Leafs GM's son Michael Hanley!

Until next time, I'm Branden Thompson of Leafs Nation News.
