Ottawa Believes They Are Still a Contender

A local beat reporter managed to obtain documents reportedly from Senators management, detailing their inner thoughts about the past year in Ottawa.

Dave King from the Ottawa Post got his hands on a secret highly confidential copy of Mike's Bell, the Ottawa Senators GM's journal about the analysis of last year inaugural BEARD season and the upcoming 2nd Beard season!

Here is a recollection of the highlights of that journal:

Mike Bell first started the analysis with last year’s 1st ever playoff appearance after a rough Sens start that had them sitting dead last in the league! Here is an excerpt from the paper:

“We had a great playoff run, the whole team stuck together and gave it there all. I really felt for the guys losing in the 7th game, in overtime against the Montreal Canadian who ended going into the finals. Very proud of this team! But we will need to add some missing pieces and let some of our UFA go."

Then Mr. Bell went on to analyze the off season and a big splash he made.

“Well this is one of the biggest acquisition Ottawa made, and wow am I proud to say Sean Monahan will now be a Senator and much better, inked for the next 4 years! I didn’t think the GM from Anaheim would let him go but we where very happy with what we sent to get him.”

“Man, this was a crazy UFA market! Kind of happy to have gotten out of this madness with a player like Jeff Skinner at the price we got him! He will add scoring depth to this team. We also solidified our goalie situation with Anton Khudobin which should have lot’s of playing time backing up Jordan Bennington, who had a great 1st season in Ottawa.”

After reading the document, we are pretty confident Ottawa will mean serious business this year and that there looking very good in locking a playoff spot.

With much of the team from last season coming back and some newly addition with the likes of Nils Hoglander and Jamie Drysdale who will make the big jump this year, things are looking mighty good in Ottawa this year!
