Ottawa Proving To Be Among League's Elite

Close to mid-season, an in-depth look from James Sacks from the Ottawa Sun into a winning franchise, their GM, and what keeps the Sens ticking.

The Sens now sit just 2 points from top spot in the East and 3 points from 2nd overall in BEARD Hockey. Mike Bell, Senators GM, had the following to say to The Sun.

"This has been an interesting but stressful first half of the season. We went on an 8-0 run which set the tone for the expectations of the season we had set. We made a move that got Sens nation very nervous when we decided to move superstar Sebastián Aho and pending UFA Bett Pesce to Chicago for Mitch Marner and Esa Lindell.

"It was a bold move but it, as of now, paid off in a major way."

Another bold has been made involving Lindell where big-name superstar Dougie Hamilton is heading to Ottawa to anchor the blue line. Sean Monahan, leading points getter, acquired at the end of last season has been exactly why Ottawa went after him, signed for 4 years.

The next piece of business and the top priority is resigning Jordan Binnington who is having a stellar season, once again with 19 wins already this season and a key part in Ottawa’s success.

What’s left you might ask? Well, Bell might still have a trade or 2 left to do.

Here you go folks, Sens nation is very proud of their team and where they are at mid-season. Stay tuned until the trade deadline!
