Sens Looking To Flip The Script On Poor Preseason

An in-depth view of the past pre-season for GM Mike Bell and his Ottawa Senators, including a look at the Sens' upcoming regular season.

General manager Mike Bell never in a million years have thought that Ottawa would only win 2 pre-season games!

With one of the best goalies in the league, a young superstar No.1 center man and a strong D core, Ottawa only managed to win 2 games. In hopes that the final win, a 6-4 victory against Boston where Eichel broke out of his slump, will continue into the regular season.

Eichel finished the pre-season in 3rd place for shots on goal with 32, so the goals will come. Backstrom who finished 3rd in scoring, Doughty who finished 5th in assist and 2nd among Defenseman in points with Ekblad who finished 3rd in points among Defenseman is a clear sign that we have the right formula in order to win this season.

Bell always has had this philosophy that a bad pre-season means that it will be a great regular season. Minor tweaks were made in the form of young netminder Olof Lindblom to pioneer the farm team with Filip Gustavson, who had a great farm pre-season, no loss, all wins!

We were extremely pleased to have drafted Jamie Drysdale this year. We see him becoming very quickly a big part of the D-core of the Sens pro team. We might see him getting some ice time this year in the pro team to give him a bit of experience that should serve him well for his development.

We will follow closely be watching the likes of Abramov, Zamula, Katchouk, Alisson, Jacobs and Kovacevik to pioneer the farm affiliates Sens team into a great year and maybe a call up to the pro team.

This will be a great inaugural season for the Ottawa Senators and it's farm affiliate!
