For the first time ever, BEARD Hockey will put on its All-Star Weekend in front of the world over a two-day event running Saturday, April 10th and Sunday, April 11th.
Buffalo was chosen as the host city for the inaugural event earlier today. BEARD Hockey officials denoted that due to this being the first season, Buffalo was a sensible choice - the host city will not earn revenue from the weekend, which is something host cities will earn in the future.
"Starting with next season, there will be a standard application process for teams wishing to host the All-Star Weekend," said league commissioner Thomas Gidlow. "Home cities will have the ability to earn revenue for their clubs, provide entertainment, other events - the possibilities are endless."
The hosting process will be announced this offseason.
For this season, it will be a subdued affair. The always hilarious GM Game will take place on Saturday night (April 10th), featuring all 32 BEARD Hockey GM's along with special guest stars and surprise guests. It will be the Niagara Falls Chicken Winged Barrel Jumpers (Eastern GM's and friends) against the Windy City's Gotham Gangsters Deep Dish Boozehounds (Western GM's and friends) with up to 1,500 fans permitted to attend.
The All-Star game proper will take place Sunday (April 11th) as the East takes on the West. There will be no coaching staff in this event for either club, and limited attendance will be permitted (up to 3,000 fans).
