Special Release: Devils and Canucks Agree to Outdoor Game

The BEARD Hockey clubs have reached an independent agreement to host a "New Year's Classic" at BC Place on January 1st, 2021.



BEARD Hockey is excited to share two team Press Releases relating to the recent deal struck between the New Jersey Devils and Vancouver Canucks to host their January 1st, 2021 game in the BC Place Stadium outdoor venue.


From Vancouver Canucks GM Aaron Sanderson:


The Vancouver Canucks and New Jersey Devils organizations are both very proud to announce that on January 1st, 2021, they will be jointly working together to bring you the 1st ever "NEW YEARS CLASSIC" in BEARD Hockey!


This outdoor event will be played at BC Place Stadium in beautiful Vancouver, BC. The event will be held in cooperation between the two clubs, with the New Jersey Devils in charge of the pre-game and 1st intermission, while the Vancouver Canucks will be in charge of the 2nd intermission and post-game entertainment.


The Canucks have announced that all tickets sold above the standard Rogers Arena ticket allotment of 19000, and all additional funds raised at the event, will be split evenly between the two organizations' charities.


The teams expect no less than 55,000 attendees at this very special event. The dome is expected to be open to make this an outdoor hockey experience, unless inclement weather forces the top to be closed.

The New Jersey Devils are thrilled to participate in the “New Year's Classic”, taking place at BC Place Stadium by the hosting Vancouver Canucks on January 1st, 2021.


This outdoor game is molded in the tradition first started by the NHL in 2008. The generous Canucks organization announced that they will be donating ticket sales above 19,000 to charity. Each team will pick a charity and the donation will be split evenly between the two teams' charities.


The joint event will feature an "Old Timer’s Game" of Vancouver Canucks and New Jersey Devils alumni as the pre-game entertainment. Canucks faithful will get to see a top line of Daniel Sedin, Henrik Sedin, and Pavel Bure.


The first intermission will feature a special performance from Nickelback "and friends". The Vancouver Canucks will announce the second intermission and the post-game entertainment.
